Cocinando con Robert

A la vuelta de vacaciones, recibí un encargo muy, muy especial, de una comadre a la que admiro muchísimo....Me pasé unas cuantas noches en la cocina con su Robert intentando darle el toque que tenía pensado para S. y su pequeño T.....quería mezclar para ellos el azul del Atlántico con el verde de los pastos gallegos.....
Esta es la primera versión....casi-casi lo que quería:

Come autumn, I was asked to do a very, very special dyeing job for a fellow mama that I admire so much...I spent quite some nights in the kitchen with her Robert, trying to achieve the colours that I had in mind for S. and her little son T....I wanted to combine the blue waters of the Atlantic coast with the vivid green of the Gallician pastures

This is the first version...almost what I was hoping for....

Y un experimento.....

Como si ya lo supiera todo sobre los degradados, me lancé con un arco iris....le había dado muchas vueltas, como siempre.....La "victima" esta vez fue escogida a conciencia: mi queridísimo rebozo mexicano, regalo de mi hermana Ale....Su blanco puro y delicioso, pasó a ser así:

Later on I tried a rainbow, as if I already knew everything about dyeing...I had given it a lot of thinking as usual.......This time the victim was consciously chosen: my beloved mexican rebozo, a gift from my dearest friend Ale....its pure, delicious white was transformed to this:

El primer trabajo "serio"

Poco despúes, pasó algo maravilloso e inesperado....Una amiga virtual, proveedora habitual de "trapillos" y conocedora de mis locuras, me hizo un encargo de los de verdad.....Gracías, Marta , por tu confianza, por tu paciencia, por todo....estuve trabajando durante días, emocionada, entusiasmada....Fueron unos días locos e intensos...

Y esto es lo que salió:

Some time after my first attempt at dyeing, something wonderful and unexpected happened....A virtual friend, my usual fluff supplier actually, asked me to do a real job for her....I could never thank  Marta  enough for trusting me, for having patience, for everything....I worked intensively over a couple of weeks, I was excited, full of energy....

And this is the outcome

Corta historia de "Como empezó todo"

Me apasionan mis hijos....me apasionan los fulares y todo lo que ellos significan: cercanía, apego, amor....Cuando nuestra etapa de porteo empezó a tocar a su fin, se me hizo difícil pensar que tenía que dejar atrás este mundo.....Así que empecé una nueva aventura, desde zero, sin saber nada al respecto, leyendo, investigando, preguntando.....

La primera "víctima" fue una simple bufanda, que teñí inspirándome en mi pequeña musa:


A short story of how it all begun

I'm passionately in love with my kids....I'm in love with wraps and all that they stand for: closeness, attachement, love....As I began to see the end of our babywearing days, it felt heartbreaking to leave those happy times behind...so I embarked on a new journey, starting from zero...I knew nothing about dyeing, but fortunately I could find lots of information on the web

The first victim was a simple scarf and I dyed it inspired by my little muse
